Title:   International Studies/Foreign Affairs Expert

Status/Shift:  Full Time Exempt

Position Summary:  
Commander, USSTRATCOM, designated USSTRATCOM J9 as the Mission Assessment and Analysis Directorate on 15 June 2010. Subsequently, USSTRATCOM J9 was also charged with activities focused on mitigating the effect of uncertainty and surprise. As identified in the USSTRATCOM CONOPS, the Directorate employs a wide range of analyses to develop assessments that inform design and planning, resource prioritization, and execution. USSTRATCOM J9 conducts assessments to better understand the strategic and operational knowledge gaps, capability requirements and readiness issues affecting successful mission accomplishment. Strategic assessments are focused on determining progress toward national-level objectives as specified in the Guidance for Employment of the Force (GEF) end-states. Strategic-level analysis, leveraging a combination of operational, campaign, and other data sources, is used to develop annual assessments used in Joint Staff and Office of the Secretary of Defense annual reports.

Ability to work independently and with a team

At least 5 years’ of experience ( through education, work experience or both) in international studies/foreign affairs or related field.

Demonstrated through work experience or advanced academic accomplishments an understanding of the formulation and implementation of foreign policy of the United States in the conduct of political or politico-economic relations with other governments.

Qualifications Desired:  
Experience in MS Office software, including MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint required; experience in MS Project and MS Access, desired
